Not long ago, I stumbled upon an article of a man who had won an art contest using an artificial intelligence art-generating robot (basically) on the Midjourney platform.
There is a huge controversy over whether such AI art-generation constitutes truly human-generated art. The process is stupid simple. But what I am more interested in is the larger idea that it is even possible, whatever the method, to create astonishingly beautiful artwork through this new technology.
It certainly leaves many uneasy. I put this picture of Joan of Arc I created with Midjourney up on Facebook….

with the comment that robots are coming for artists now. The response was not positive.
But still, just look at it! And it took me about 5 minutes to create it!
As you can tell by the existence of the webpage, my response to this is indeed positive – not because I want artists to be put out of business, but because it is another technology that we, as Catholics, can use to bring glory to God.
That is what inspires the images on this blog. I want to express worship of God through a medium that, honestly up till now, was fairly inaccessible to me. I hope to share it with you and hope it encourages you.
And you know what? If you are a Catholic artist, I hope you jump on this bandwagon yourself. We need good Catholic art made by good Catholic artists inspired by our faith.
Joan of Arc, pray for us.
